LASER SURGERY
Unique to our hospital is our surgical CO2 laser.
A surgical laser delivers an intense beam of light delivering a large amount of energy to a focused area of tissue.
This causes the heating of water within the cells above the boiling point, resulting in the vaporization of the cells to create a precise incision with minimal damage to surrounding tissue.
The benefits of CO2 laser surgery over more conventional surgical methods include:
Small blood vessels are sealed as the incision is made resulting in less bleeding.
Lymphatic vessels are sealed reducing bruising or tearing of tissue resulting in reduced swelling.
Nerve endings are sealed resulting in less post-operative pain.
The benefits of less bleeding, swelling, and pain result in a faster return to normal activity levels post-operatively.
